Mia van der Kop

Sculptor · Based in West Vancouver, British Columbia

Mia began sculpture in Kuwait and now works from her home and community studios in West Vancouver. She creates sculptures that reflect her experience with cancer, epilepsy, and headaches, and what brings her joy: namely, love. Each piece reflects what she was going through at the time.

She is drawn to pushing the technical limits of clay, creating figures with cantilevered elements, continuous loops, and open negative space.
